☕️ Preparation tips
We recommend using a traditional Turkish coffee maker (Ibrik). Add 2 teaspoons per cup of coffee to the Ibrik along with the water, bring to a boil and serve. The residues at the bottom of the cup are characteristic of Turkish coffee.
👨🏫 Historical Notes:
Turkish coffee has been part of coffee culture since the early 1400s, making it one of the oldest methods of preparation in the world. In 1554, two Syrian merchants from the HAKIM family, ancestors of MIKAH founder Dr. Maximus Hakim, opened the first coffeehouses in Constantinople. These establishments, known as Kahwe-kane, were public places where coffee was prepared and served, marking the beginning of the modern coffeehouse.
The Ottoman Sultan was a great fan of Turkish coffee, which originated in the Arabian Peninsula and Yemen. Istanbul’s coffeehouses were the first public places to enjoy this delicious beverage, and the Sultan’s visits to these establishments cemented his love for it.
